ATLANTA, November 11, 2024 - The Educated Choices Program (ECP) continues its partnership with The Good Food Institute (GFI), a nonprofit think tank and international network of organizations working to accelerate alternative protein innovation, to release “What is Cow-Free Dairy? ...and Other Fermentation-Enabled Proteins.” Viewers will learn how increasingly popular cow-free dairy products, known as fermentation-enabled proteins, are made using exciting advancements in food technology. Precision fermentation and biomass fermentation, two methods used to create ingredients for animal-free and plant-based foods, will also be explored, showing audiences how products like cow-free dairy ice cream and fungi steaks are produced.
This education package is the second in ECP and GFI’s Food Innovation Series, a collection of short educational videos familiarizing audiences with the technology behind cultivated meat, fermented alternative proteins, plant-based proteins, and career paths within these areas of study. The “What is Cow-Free Dairy? ...and Other Fermentation-Enabled Proteins” education package can be accessed through the ECP Video Library and comes complete with lesson plans, homework, quizzes, homework, guided notes, discussion prompts, and activities to further engage students during and after the video presentation.
